Harvest Moon Wizard Confession Narration

It was my billionth time visiting Wizard since we met.  He never leaves his house, so I know exactly where to find him at any time of day, either looking into his crystal ball or reading a scholarly book.  Today was no different than any other to me, but I soon learned that I was wrong.

"Hey Wizard, I brought your favourite hot coffee again," I said cheerfully.

He took the coffee from me and took a little sip.  "Thank you Sakura, like always," he said softly.  Then he paused, fidgeting with the cup.  He looked so adorable.

"Is there something wrong?" I inquired.  He was usually very calm and serene, but today he seemed almost nervous.

"Do you have... time today?  I want to talk..."  He said this so quietly that I almost didn't hear him.  I wondered what he had to say to me for him to be acting this way.

"Sure, I'm free today."

His eyes lit up.  "Great, uh... Let's meet up in front of the lighthouse at 16:00."

I nodded.  "See you later then, Wizard," I said as I left his house.  Since there was only an hour left before 16:00, I headed towards the lighthouse a little early.  As I walked, I couldn't help myself from wondering what Wizard had to say to me.  We've been getting along really well recently, with the gift giving and the star watching.  We go to every festival together and talk twice a day.  I hoped he wasn't tired of me or something.  This time I was getting a little worried.

At 16:00 on the dot, Wizard joined me in front of the lighthouse like we had agreed on.

"G-Greetings, Sakura," he said while stuttering.

I greeted him back.  "So, what is it that you want to talk about?" I asked.

I could see him mentally preparing himself before he said his next words.  "You know, witches and wizards don't tell people their names.... This is because it's said that those who know your name can control you."

I nodded slowly, now understanding why Witch and Wizard never told me their names.  He continues, with a blush creeping up his cheeks.  "D-Despite this, I want you to know my name."  He ruffles his hair in embarrassment.  "After all, y-you already control my heart."  His face is now a shade of deep red.

My eyes widen at his words and my cheeks become a matching pair with his.  Never in my dreams did I think he would reciprocate my feelings towards him.  I could feel his anxiety emanating from him.  "If you have feelings for me... I want to share my name with you," he said, and then quickly added, "B-But if you don't, then I'm terribly sor-"

I took his hand in mine before he could finish and gave him my best smile as tears began to form in my eyes.  "Wizard... I really, really like you."  I let a tear slip and then held his hand to my cheek.  "Whether you tell me your name or not, I will always like you.  You've had control of my heart since the day we met."

I felt Wizard's rapid pulse through his hand which seemed to stop for a moment when I told him how I felt.  At first, he looked absolutely stunned by my words, but his lips gradually turned upwards into a silly grin from ear to ear as he stared into my eyes.  Never had I seen Wizard look so happy, and it warmed my heart to know that he felt this way because of me.

As I released his hand, a part of me went with him.  "I see, that's enough... for now," he said, and then chuckled.  "I don't think my heart can take any more for today."  His eyes twinkled like the starry sky that he loved so much.

"I feel the same," I agreed.

"I will tell you my name... when we swear our love to each other."  He said in a whisper as he stepped towards me.  "You will be the only human who has ever known my name."  He must have decided that his heart could endure a little more because the next thing he did was lean into me and plant a sweet kiss on my cheek.

I involuntarily let out a pleasant sigh, letting the kiss linger on my cheek even after he took a step back.  My body felt hot and my knees grew weak.  Wizard was full of surprises that day, not that I was complaining.

Wizard coughed nervously to the side.  "It's getting late, I'll walk you home."
I nodded and we walked together hand in hand, like two bright red lovebirds retreating into the sunset.
